A wreath I just made!
First, I wrapped the wreath form with the turquoise yarn. I did this about three times to make a cushiony effect.
Next, I embroidered the WELCOME letters. I knew that I wanted to do something special with them, but wasn’t sure what. (I thought about maybe hanging them from some string or a crocheted band across the center of the wreath, like little flags). I created each letter on a separate piece of cloth. At some point I folded one or two letters and wrapped around the bottom. I liked the effect!
After this, I crocheted a few leaves to decorate the remaining parts of the wreath.
Then I found this hanging bird decoration thing (Indian) that I purchased at World Market. I took it apart and used a few of the birds to decorate the rest. They now sit on some of the leaves.
I am still thinking of editing the bird positions or number of birds….Not exactly sure I love the look….But…It was really fun to make!

Wedding dress I made! After these pictures were taken, I added boning to the bodice piece…
The necklace shown is Bedouin and was originally a face piece (used during belly dancing - where the eyes alone are exposed). My husband, Miles, and I bought this at a bazaar in Cairo. The shop owner converted it to a necklace for me.
The dress was inspired by this Dolce and Gabbana wedding gown:
It was really fun to make and wear!
